The Bible was written to be interpreted, so you should take it however your heart moves you to take it, for it is through your heart that God will speak to you. Also keep in mind that much of what is there cannot be understood until you have learned other things. It is my guess that the contradictions people perceive are actually qualifications under certain circumstances. Or, in some instances, a contradiction would be given to show the same thing from another perception, thus broadening understanding. People try to make the information black and white, inflexible. Reality is more complex than that.
