In the Garden of Eden stood two trees, one was the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the second was the Tree of Everlasting Life. It was the first tree from which Satan convinced Eve to eat, and which Adam also tasted. It is this knowledge of good and evil which sets humans apart from other animals, nothing else. Humans have always strived to identify that which sets them "above" the animals. First they said it was language, or tools, or souls. But then they found that animals do have language, and even taught a gorilla to speak in sign language to them. They saw that animals do use tools, such a sea otter using rocks to crack open a sea urchin, or a monkey using a stick to dip out ants from an ant mound. And I would further contend that animals have souls, that most precious possession which humans would deny them.
Animals with souls? The Bible doesn't say that! I think you're going a bit too far now. This is boring. Let's talk about something else.
