I understand your skepticism, and it is good to question. But those old men of whom you speak prayed for guidance as they compiled the various portions of the Bible. I place value on that fact. Furthermore, the Bible states that it was inspired by God, (2Peter 1:21). I choose to believe that it is so.
That doesn't prove anything! Have it your way then, but I still say you can't take it literally. Yeesh! Let's talk about something else.
